Science of the Farm and more, Durban, until 11 April

The Old Mutual-MTN ScienCentre has a program jam-packed with a variety of activities for children between the ages of 3 and 13 for the upcoming April school holidays (1-11 April).

Free ‘Science on the Farm’ workshops will run every day with the promise of close supervision. There are also different activities lined up for each of the 11 days, and these include such themes as: experimenting with soil, wacky wind vane, forensics on the farm, H20 on the go, hydropower, sense farm and memory machine to name but a few. There are also a number of activities for younger children, such as ‘sounds on the farm’ and ‘paint and make’.

Candice Potgieter, General Manager of the Old Mutual-MTN ScienCentre, said: “We have trained facilitators and a security camera on our floor the entire day, and children may only leave the premises when being fetched by their parents. The holiday program that we have prepared is fun, exciting, interactive and informative all at the same time! Cognitive skills are easily developed as the activities appeal to the explorer and scientist that live inside all of us!”

The ScienCentre's famous 40-seater domed planetarium will also be open, offering people the chance to watch a 3D movie which examines the earth through the ages. Ticket prices range from R25 to R29, depending on the age group.

The centre open times: 9am – 7pm on Monday – Thursday, 9am – 9pm on Friday and Saturday and 9am – 6pm on Sunday.

For further enquiries and a schedule of their daily workshops and events, the Old Mutual – MTN ScienCentre front desk can be contacted on 031 566 8040, or alternatively log on to http://www.sciencentre.co.za. The centre is located at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping.
