    THE FESTIVAL

The Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival is in its seventh year and better than ever. Previously known as the Greyton Winter Classical Music Festival, the festival joined hands with neighbouring Genadendal this year, taking on a new name and a whole new spirit. What started as an intimate affair for a largely local audience six years ago, has grown into a much anticipated event featuring some of the hottest talent South African classical music has to offer. And yet, it remains an intimate affair - and an exclusive one - set against the backdrop of picturesque Greyton and Genadendal in the Overberg.

Stay on the edge of your seat with upcoming opera star, Given Nkosi, or overnight sensation, James Bhemgee; or sit back and breathe with long-standing talent such as cellist Marian Lewin or classicsal guitarist Avril Kinsey. Be carried away by the powerful sounds of the Cape Town Opera Studio singers or smile at the playful sounds of Beethoven Tango by pianist Charl du Plessis and violinist Zanta Hofmeyr. From the Genadendal Brass Band to the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra and Canticum Novum choir, your weekend will be filled with sights and sounds to make your stay and your musical experience, an unforgettable experience.

    THE POST HOUSE

This iconic Greyton landmark was built in 1860, only a few years after the village was founded when, in 1854, a farm under the Riviersonderend Mountains was divided up into plots. The village was named after the Governer of the Cape, Sir George Grey. Like the village with its oak tree-lined lanes and old cottages, The Post House retains its romantic old world charm.

The Hotel is widely recognised as the ‘top stay’ destination in town and guarantees the most luxurious accommodation on offer. Guest rooms are newly renovated, each with it’s own character, and each with a private verandah leading onto a stunning garden. Rooms are fitted with everything you might possibly need during your stay and are serviced daily.

Situated in the heart of the village, the Hotel is surrounded by village shops, chocolatiers, tea rooms and restaurants. Not that you have to venture far for a scrumptious meal. The Post House kitchen serves excellent seasonal and locally sourced fare on both their Summer and Winter menus. Lunch and dinner bookings are essential. Breakfast is included in all accommodation packages.

The winner of classicsa.co.za’s April prize will be hosted by the Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival. Your hosts at The Post House will be General Manager Pieter Nel and his dedicated staff.
