Autitions for prospective music students at North West University

Learners in Matric who consider enrolling vir music study at North-West University next year, can start preparing for the practical audition and written tests that are prerequisites for admission. The School of Music gives an opportunity to prospective music students to audition and write the theoretical placement tests on the first three Saturdays in September (i.e. 3, 10 & 17 September) at the Conservatory.

For degree study, candidates must complete a practical audition on their preferred instrument(s)/singing which consists of the performance of three pieces of their own choice, as well as scales, aural tests and sight reading. The theoretical placement test is a diagnostic tool and will be on Grade V standard for BMus / BA(Mus) and Grade II standard for BA Music & Society. There will also be another written test for which no preparation is necessary.

For diploma study, candidates may complete a practical audition on an instrument/singing, if they want to. There will also be further test to determine musical aptitude.
