Music director of Symphony Nova Scotia in Halifax, Canada, since 2002, and principal guest conductor of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Bernhard Gueller has established himself as an exciting and passionate interpreter in countries around the world.
He is acknowledged for the work he does with youth orchestras, and conducts student orchestras as well as annual concerts in which the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra musicians combine with SNS in large-scale works.
Gueller was awarded an honorary doctorate by Dalhousie University in Halifax in 2009 in recognition of his “outstanding personal achievements.”
Chinese-born Chun Wang’s brilliance, evident as a child prodigy in Beijing, was widely recognised when he won the Villa-Lobos International Piano Competition of Brazil at the age of sixteen. Two years later he was awarded a top prize at the Unisa International in Pretoria, where he was an audience favourite.
Now continuing his studies at the Juilliard School of Music, his career has taken off in a big way, with performances throughout America.
