Katya Apekisheva is one of Europe’s foremost pianists, in demand internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, and has been described by Gramophone magazine as ‘a profoundly gifted artist’ who has ‘already achieved artistic greatness’.

Her solo CD release of Grieg solo piano works in 2008 has received over-whelming critical acclaim. It was chosen by Classic FM as CD of the week and selected by Gramophone Magazine as Editor’s Choice. It also received the “Rising star” award in International Piano Magazine and was Critic’s choice for the year 2008 in Gramophone Magazine.

Katya will be touring South Africa for the first time during April/May this year performing, respectively, Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto in a minor and Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto in c minor with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic and Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. She will also be performing solo recitals for the Johannesburg Musical Society, Knysna/Plett Music Society, Unisa Music Foundation and Cape Town Concert Series.
