Tots in Tune by Tertia Visser Downie (piano)
Cape Town based pianist Tertia Visser Downie recorded two solo piano CDs of well-known nursery rhymes and lullabies for babies and children to listen to.
Tots in Tune - Favourites for Bedtime & Cuddletime are now available at a special price of R130 for Volume 1 and 2.
Tertia comments: “What is unique about Tots in Tune is that no synthesised sounds are used as in most CD’s for children. I believe that children should be exposed to pure sounds and music right from the start. That is why the recording was made on a Steinway Concert Grand. The music is soothing and relaxing, even for unborn babies. Whether you are at home or driving, it creates a tranquil atmosphere, improving listening skills and raising the concentration levels of children.”
“The recordings create a lovely atmosphere in the home, the workplace and even the classroom. The calming effect of the music makes children relax, improves their concentration and contributes to a peaceful ambience in the home. Studies have shown that children exposed to classical music, especially before the age of 7, show better results academically. Hence, the influence of classical music on infants and young children is incredibly valuable.”
“These beautiful solo piano lullabies and relaxation music radiates warmth. It is soothing to the mind and healing to the soul. It is for people of all ages who value fantasy.” Anna Smuts – musicologist, mother of 3.
“As a music teacher, this is the kind of beautifully played true sounds I would like to expose my children to.” Annamarie Gelderblom – Violin teacher, mother of 3.
“The quiet constancy of rhythm and melody creates an atmosphere of tranquillity.” Helen Anderson – Music Therapist, grandmother of 2
“Tots in Tune Volume 1 is my Rescue Remedy CD.” Isabelle du Plessis, grandmother of many
