Shanghai Brunch features classical favourites arranged for jazz piano trio and performed by pianist Charl du Plessis, drummer Hugo Radyn and bassist Werner Spies.

Shanghai Brunch is Charl du Plessis’s fourth album and it recently received the Ghoema Award for Best Instrumental CD. His recording with violinist Zanta Hofmeyr, Beethoven Tango, was also nominated for a Ghoema Award. Shangai Brunch is currently in the running for a South African Music Award (SAMA) in the category for Best Classical and Instrumental Album.

The recording boasts 18 original arrangements of well-known melodies by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy and Gerswhin.
