CELLO : Berthine van Schoor

CELLO : Berthine van Schoor

Berthine van Schoor founded her cello academy in 2007.  A masters graduate from the world renowned Mozarteum in Austria, she believes in a holistic approach to teaching.

The aim of the academy is to give the students a sense of belonging and to provide them with a space in which they can thrive, grow and progress, not only as young and upcoming cellists, but also as human beings.

The academy is also instrumental in an outreach project generously supported by the Unisa Music Foundation where young cellists from previously disadvantaged communities receive world-class cello tuition.

Master classes with visiting international cellists form part of the yearly calendar and students are always encouraged to take part.

The academy has produced numerous excellent cello students who have passed their exams with distinction, won prizes in competitions and performed in concerto festivals.
