Winand Grundling completed his school career at the Hoërskool Brandwag and started his organ studies under Colin Campbell in 2002. In 2004 he was the overall winner of the Absa National Youth Music Competition .He was the organist at the NG Kerk Uitenhage and obtained a B.Mus degree from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth.

Winand also passed the ATCL Trinity Recital examination, as well as the UNISA Recital Licentiate, with distinction. In the 2009 UNISA Overseas Music Bursary Competition, he was the winner in the organ category, as well as the overall winner.  in at the SAMRO Competition and in 2009 he was the winner of the Mabel Quick Music Competition.

In 2007 and 2009 he won the organ category in the ATKV-Muziq National Classical Music Competition and in 2010 he was announced as the overall winner.

Winand has delivered organ recitals at national and international level and was one of seventeen organists chosen worldwide to attend the International Organ School at Calgary in 2006. He attended master’s classes in Canada. Twice, in 2007 and 2008, he was the winner of the Charles Bryars Bursary.

He is currently a student of Mario Nell. In 2010 he recorded his first CD and DVD with the title “Toccata” under the EMI label.
