Chanticleer Singers with DuoFourIVTwo

Chanticleer Singers with DuoFourIVTwo

15.10.2013 The Chanticleer Singers will perform a concert with the well-known percussion duo DuoFourIVTwo on 22 October, with an excting programme lined up. Richard Cock will conduct the concert.

Four contrasting and inspired pieces of 20th Century music will be performed. These are Ariel Ramirez’s Misa Criolla and Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten. Two works by South African composers will be performed - Peter Louis van Dijk’s San Gloria and Grant McLachlan’s Disturb us Lord.

The Misa Criolla and San Gloria will appear in a new guise with accompaniment of Marimba and Vibraphone played by DuoFourIVTwo - Madga de Vries and Frank Mallows - who have created a special bond with the Chanticleer Singers over the last few years.

Disturb us O Lord is a new work receiving its premiere at this concert. Grant McLachlan is a Cape Town based composer who writes many film scores, but as a former Oxford Magdalen College Choral Scholar, writes brilliantly for voices.

And in a further tribute to Benjamin Britten in his Centenary year - Rejoice in the Lamb - a powerful celebration of music and creation completes the programme.

The concert takes place at 45 Lurgan Road, Parkview, Johannesburg. Tickets (R 120 /R100 for Seniors/Students) can be booked with Caroline on +27 (0)11 447 9264.
