01.11.2013  The Pretoria Bach Choir will be presenting a very special musical gift to all lovers of sacred choral music this year. On Sat 2 Nov and Sat 9 November, they will be performing JS Bach’s Weihnachts (Christmas) Oratorium and the entire work will be performed (all 6 parts) in one performance with full orchestra.

Coupled with that, the audience can enjoy a 5 course Heiligabendessen (light dinner) and drinks between all the parts, originally written to be performed during 6 consecutive Christmas church services.

Gerben Grooten wiill conduct the Pro-Weihnacht Orchestra – an ad hoc orchestra consisting of some of Gauteng’s best professional musicians. The vocal soloists are Alna Smit (Soprano), Kathy Neuland (Alto), Lance Phillip (Tenor) and Hendre van Zyl (Baritone)

There are two performances, each taking place in a different church: On Sat 2 Nov 16:30 at the VGK Church, c/o Louis Trichardt and 28th Ave, Rietfontein, Pretoria. The performance on Sat 9 Nov 16:30 takes place at Wapadrant Reformed Church,  Sunrise Street – (off Atterbury into Eros Str, Olympus, Pretoria).

Tickets are R300 per person and include drinks and the 5 course light dinner. Only 250 tickets available per performance. There will be no ticket sales at the door.
